When the intestine goes, everything goes. Can you tell us more ?

The intestine, in my view, assumes two absolutely fundamental roles:

The first fundamental role it assumes is that we actually realized that the intestine was the number one producer of serotonin, serotonin, which is also called the happiness hormone, which is responsible for various internal processes of our body, including the regulation of mood. Hence the importance of taking care of it.

And then, the second fundamental role of our intestine is that I see it a bit like the filter of our organism. It is the seat of our immunity. What you have to see is that the intestine is a bit what separates us from the outside world. Quite simply because foods are substances that come from the outside world that we will put inside our bodies.

And these substances will pass into our body through the intestinal barrier. That's why I use the term barrier, because there really is this image that can be made with the barrier between the outside world and the inside world.

And suddenly, this barrier, if it is defective, if it has some kind of holes, it will allow undesirable substances to pass into the body which can trigger undesirable reactions in the form of, for example, pain, headaches, skin problems such as acne, eczema. It can eventually come out in any form, simply because there are undesirable substances that have passed through this barrier.

So taking care of it is absolutely essential.

How to take care of your gut?

Now, how do you take care of your gut?

In our intestine, there is already, we call it the intestinal flora. So there is actually a whole world that lives in our intestines. And the idea is to take care of this world. This little world is very fond of fiber and that is why it is important to return to one of the fundamental principles which is to consume food in its most raw form possible. Quite simply because typically, when we eat a whole fruit rather than juice, we will have all the fiber in this fruit.

When we are going to eat a cereal, for example barley in its whole form rather than pasta, or it is semolina, or a lot of the fibers of the cereal are gone, we will have something less qualitative in terms of fiber for our intestine.

So, having the most raw food possible allows you to bring this quantity of fibers essential to the good health of the intestine. These fibers that will feed the good intestinal bacteria.

That is in the good substances, now there are substances where it is worth, perhaps, to limit its consumption, for example gluten, which is a rather irritating substance for the intestinal walls.

And it's true that in our Western diet, we tend to consume quite a bit of gluten in the form of wheat-based foods, spelled too now.

And it is worth not necessarily abolishing gluten at all costs, but in any case to have a reflection on the quantity of gluten that we consume, gluten being particularly problematic when it is in industrial preparations which contain mainly wheat.

Gluten yes, but still?

And then another substance that is also worth considering in moderation is sugar, because sugar, in fact, will tend to feed bad bacteria, bad intestinal bacteria.

But what is also interesting to note is that sugar will feed bad bacteria wherever they are in our body.

A very silly example, but if you're parents and you have children who have repeated colds, colds where it's thick green, really the thing that systematically degenerates into bronchitis, it may be that the sugar consumption must be monitored because the bad bacteria that are also present in mucus, for example, will proliferate since they are very fond of sugar.

And it's exactly the same thing that happens in our intestine, hence the importance of monitoring its sugar consumption.
