Belonging to the Lamiaceae family, Lavandula latifolia, also known as spike lavender or broad-leaved lavender, is a perennial subshrub with narrow and elongated leaves.

It produces pale violet to bluish flowers, clustered in terminal spikes on long stems. Lavandula latifolia mainly grows in Mediterranean regions, including France, Spain, and Portugal.

The essential oil of Lavandula latifolia is extracted through steam distillation of freshly picked flowers. It is a clear liquid with a color that varies from colorless to pale yellow. The aroma of this essential oil is fresh and herbaceous, with camphoraceous and slightly floral notes.
