Citrus sinensis, also known as sweet orange, belongs to the Rutaceae family. It is an evergreen tree that can reach up to 10 meters in height. Its branches are often equipped with thorns, and its leaves are green, oblong, and shiny.

The flowers, called orange blossoms, are white and emit a delicate and pleasant fragrance. The fruits, oranges, are spherical and juicy citrus fruits, with a thick and rough skin that ranges from green to orange depending on their maturity.
