Belonging to the Geraniaceae family, Pelargonium x asperum, also known as Rose Geranium, is a perennial shrub with velvety, lobed leaves.
It produces flowers in various colors, ranging from pale pink to deep violet, often clustered in umbels. Pelargonium x asperum is primarily cultivated in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Egypt, and certain regions of Europe.
The essential oil of Pelargonium x asperum is extracted through steam distillation of the leaves and flowers of the plant. It is a clear liquid with a color that varies from colorless to pale green. The aroma of this essential oil is delicate and complex, combining floral and rosy notes with herbaceous and slightly spicy undertones.
