Belonging to the Geraniaceae family, Pelargonium x asperum, also known as Geranium Rosat, is a perennial shrub with velvety, lobed leaves.
It produces flowers in a variety of colors, from pale pink to dark purple, often grouped in umbels. Pelargonium x asperum is grown mainly in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Egypt and parts of Europe.
Pelargonium x asperum essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the plant's leaves and flowers. It comes in the form of a clear liquid, varying in color from colorless to pale green. The aroma of this essential oil is delicate and complex, combining floral and rosy notes with herbaceous and slightly spicy nuances.
