It produces blue-violet to pale blue flowers, clustered in terminal spikes on long stems. Lavandula angustifolia is primarily cultivated in Mediterranean regions, including France, Spain, Italy, and Bulgaria.

The essential oil of Lavandula angustifolia is obtained through steam distillation of freshly picked flowers. It is a clear liquid with a color that varies from colorless to pale yellow. The aroma of this essential oil is sweet, floral, and herbaceous, with slightly balsamic undertones.
